NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK
Call us crazy, but we seem to continuously feature posts about minxes who have won the title of
“Rookie of the Year” from the “Sports Illustrated” Swimsuit Edition, like Nina Agdal, or Hannah Davis (who actually came in a close second in 2013, but really, who’s counting?). Anywho, the winner for 2014 is today’s Minx: Sara Sampaio, who also happens to be the first Portuguese model to ever grace the pages of the “SI” Swimsuit Edition. Hooray for international diversity! Sara doubtlessly already had a lot of fans from her Victoria’s Secret work, and apparently, they came out in droves to vote, securing her 32% of the vote.
Sara was up against some luscious competition, too—12 other women, including Hannah Ferguson and Emily Ratajkowski of “Blurred Lines” fame. Winning seems to come easily to this 22-year old brunette bombshell. In 2011 and 2012, she won Portuguese Golden Globes for Best Female Model, and it seems like all Sara does is win, win, win modeling contracts too, appearing alongside Irina Shayk in the Replay campaign in 2011/12, and earning the title the “eighth wonder of the world” from Portuguese “GQ.” We’re not sure where Sara is headed next, but no doubt it’s someplace with a podium

Sometimes, some humans were just born to be hot. Like for example, the daughter of a “Playboy” Playmate (Laura Lyons) and a British artist (Alan Aldridge). Meet genetically-favored Lily Aldridge, Victoria’s Secret angel and human-extraordinaire. At the age of just 16, Lily started modeling with a gig for Abercrombie and Fitch, and things have pretty much just skyrocketed from there. The following year, at 17, Lily graced the cover of Spanish “Vogue” as well as editorials for some of the top fashion publications in the world, like “Glamour,” “Teen Vogue,” “Cosmopolitan” and “Elle Girl.”
The ad campaigns started pouring in too, and Lily flashed her beautiful face for the likes of high-end brands like Coach, Smashbox Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, Charles David and J Brand. But she really soared into the hearts of America when she became a full-fledged Angel, walking her first Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and earning her wings in 2009. And in case you’re wondering if she hangs out with the other angels, like Erin Heatherton and Candice Swanepoel, the answer is yes. Yes, she does. At least on the cover of British “GQ” and in the pages of “V Magazine.” Sadly, when she’s not in front of the cameras, she’s off-limits, since she married Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill, after meeting him at theCoachella Festival and falling madly in love. The couple gave birth to a daughter, Dixie Pearl Followill on June 21, 2012. How cute—a musical minx in training.
New York Fashion Week is swooping into town tomorrow, and besides anticipating whatever it is that Kanye is going to do/wear/rant about, we all have something else to get excited about—having all those minxes in the same place at the same time. Kind of like in this slideshow. Get to clicking.
