اصدرت وزارة الصحة السعودية تحذيراً من خطر تدخين السيجارة الإلكترونية
أشار الدكتور ماجد المنيف المشرف العام على برنامج مكافحة التدخين في وزارة الصحة الى نشاط البرنامج الرامي الى توعية المدخنين بشأن هذه السيجارة من خلال إصدار كتيب، مشددأَ على أهمية العمل لحظرها تدريجياً في الاسواق و معاقبة كل من يسوّقها ويروّج لها.
و السيجارة الإلكترونية ابتكار صيني ظهر في عام 2004 بواسطة كبسولات إعادة تعبئة النيكوتين على شكل فلترات صغيرة، يتم تبخرها واستنشاقها مما يوحي للمدخن وكأنه دخن سيجارة تقليدية.
كل كبسولة تعادل علبتي سجائر وغالباً ما يتم اقتناؤها عبر المواقع الإلكترونية.
وبالإضافة الى المخاطر التي تشكلها السجائر على الصحة فإنها تحمل تهديداً من نوع آخر، اذ تعرض مواطن أمريكي في ولاية فلوريدا قبل أيام الى إصابات في شفتيه ولسانه وأسنانه بسبب انفجار سيكارة إلكترونية كان يدخنها.
