Saudi Court of Criminal announced on Wednesday, a judge may be appealed against Yusuf Al-Ahmed the academic preacher and faculty member in Jurisprudence Department of “Imam Muhammad bin Saud University in Riyadh of five years in prison and travel bans plus a fine of $ 100 thousand Dollars.
Yusuf was arrested last July after posting a video on “YouTube”, criticizing the policy of a Saudi Arabia detective system, which is spreading terror among people, and sent a letter to the king of Saudi Arabia and his interior minister holding them the responsible of the thousands of detainees in prisons without trials, and warning them of the injustice and its effects, and demanding that the Saudi king would devote some time to these issues as the time he devoted to attend a sports match. That was what annoyed authorities to arrest Yusuf on charges of violating public order, and dissemination of what raises sedition and incitement to the guardians.
The decision was also taken against six others in the same case, including two Egyptians one of them is sentenced of two years imprisonment and a fine of 10 thousand Riyals, and the other is sentenced of a fine of 3 thousand Riyals. Two other defendants were sentenced of imprisonment for two years and a fine of 10 thousand Riyals each. Two others were delayed for consideration of the judgment on Monday at their stand before the Court. The six of them are facing charges of production of what affect s the public security, storage and publishing it via Internet including calls and supports for the ideology of a terrorist organization outside the Kingdom. The court also decided the deportation of the Egyptians after the end of their sentences to prevent their entry to the Kingdom again.
ANHRI said: “We demand the immediate release of all defendants in that case without conditions, as it is absurd to judge a person for demanding freedom of another person and the Saudi government has to respect the law and the human right of opinion expression even if the rulers don’t like the opinion! ANHRI is also demanding refrain from accusation of incitement against the rulers for whoever tries to criticize the policy of the State, Such charges are nothing but ironic.
