Gamal Mubarak, the younger son of Egypt's former President Hosni Mubarak, was accompanying his father in a hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt's al-Ahram newspaper said on its website late Tuesday.
Hosni Mubarak was hospitalized on Tuesday in Sharm El-Sheikh, state TV reported.
Earlier on Tuesday, a judge told Xinhua that Gamal was to be detained for at least 15 days.
Gamal resigned from his post in the former ruling National Democratic Party on Feb. 5 after protests began on Jan. 25 against his father's rule. Hosni Mubarak was forced to step down on Feb. 11.
Egyptian Attorney General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud decided Sunday to question the former president and his two sons, Alaa and Gamal, over accusations about the use of violence against protestors during the anti-government demonstrations.
Mubarak and his two sons will also be questioned over alleged corruption by using their influence to seize public funds and get commissions from different deals, official MENA news agency had said.
But Mubarak defended himself and his family by denying the accusations in a recorded audio speech aired by pan-Arab Al- Arabiya TV on Sunday.
Mubarak denied that he had used his power to accumulate big wealth. He added neither Alaa nor Gamal's wealth was gained by exploiting their influence or through illegal profiteering.
Some 384 people were killed in the anti-government protest from late January to early February, according to the country's Health Ministry.
