The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and President of the Muslim Council of Elders Prof. Ahmed el-Tayeb has just arrived, in the company of Chechen President Ramzan Akhmadovich Kadyrov, at the Presidential Palace in the Chechen capital, Grozny, as the Chechen President holds a banquet in honor of the Grand Imam and the accompanying delegation.
The Grand Imam has arrived early today at the Chechen capital Grozny, where he was received by Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov as well as the religious and administrative leaders.
Hundreds of Chechens gathered outside the airport to receive the Grand Imam, chanting "Allah Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest) as a sign of warm welcome to the Grand Imam and the accompanying delegation.
It is scheduled that the Grand Imam and the Chechen President will discuss means of cooperation between Al-Azhar and Chechnya. In addition, they will discuss training Chechen imams, as well as the student grants for Chechens at Al-Azhar and the Al-Azhar envoys to Chechnya.
